Traditional Classic Pilates is based on six key principles: centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, and flow. To gain the most from the Method, one must apply all of these principles to each exercise performed. During a 60 minute Private Pilates Session or Mat Class, Classic Pilates works the entire body in a series of choreographed exercises to strengthen, lengthen, and tone your muscles, extracting any weaknesses caused by imbalances in your muscular or skeletal system.

Joseph Pilates believed you can practice, and should practice, Pilates every single day, but we at Happie Body fully understand that life and budget can prevent many from committing to this daily recommended regimen. However, we can attest from first-hand experience, the Pilates Promise works!
By practicing the Traditional Classic Pilates Method (on the apparatus and/or through mat work), 3 times a week, you will feel a difference in 10, see a difference in 20, and have a whole new body in 30 sessions! We have many recommendations and resources to help you achieve this goal, whether in studio or out, so please inquire within about our accountability program.

Although Traditional Classic Pilates can be performed on a mat like Yoga, Pilates can be performed on specially designed apparatus through the use of resistance created by springs. Classic Pilates is also very dynamic instead of static, and the breathing techniques are vastly different. Yoga focuses on abdominal, or belly breathing, while Pilates emphasizes diaphragmatic breathing. This type of breathing technique will help to prepare you for active movement, with strong exhalations to support your core muscles.

At Happie Body Pilates, we adhere to Traditional Classic Pilates, practicing its most original form, just as Joseph Pilates designed it. Although contemporary forms of Pilates are available in the marketplace, we at Happie Body choose to focus on practicing and teaching the Classic methodology of Pilates because of the scientific evidence of its benefits. When performed as intended by Joseph Pilates, it ensures lifelong health and longevity and maximizes the potential of your body.

No. Traditionally, the Reformer was used as a diagnostic tool to develop an individualized exercise program to address the different needs of each client. At Happie Body, we reserve the Reformer for this purpose.
However, we do offer Small Apparatus classes that include the use of other Classic Pilates apparatus, as well as free weights, Bosu Balls, foam rollers and more. We tailor challenging, results-driven workouts, with specialized attention for clients at any level by limiting apparatus class attendance to 4 persons.

At Happie Body, our Traditional Classic Pilates Mat class uses your body’s own weight as resistance to move through a choreographed sequence of movements that can exceed over 60 exercises in a single session. Our classes are limited to 7 persons, and provides a way to perform these series of exercises in a seamless dynamic flow.
Our Small Apparatus classes are taught in even smaller groups (limited to 4 persons), and expertly choreographed to each individual clients’ needs in addressing any weaknesses and imbalances that may be present. Prior Pilates experience, or at least 5 of our Traditional Classic Pilates Mat classes or 3 Private Pilates Sessions, is highly recommended for safety and optimal results.
